Video Interaction Guidance
Video interaction guidance is an intervention that uses video clips of interactions between people to help improve those interactions.
A guide shows the participants edited footage of an interaction in order to uncover the participants' perception of the successful moments of communication.
The VIG guider will explore the participants' emotional and cognitive response to the footage in order to develop a deeper understanding of the participants' core beliefs about their role.
The guider's understanding is shared with the participant and this creates space for reflexive thought for both the guider and the participants.
The intervention focuses on the relational aspects of communication rather than viewing communication as a skill-based competency of the individual.
