Vitamin B-1

Vitamin B-1 (also known as thiamin, thiamine and aneurine) is one of the B group of vitamins.

It is involved in numerous body functions including

  • nervous system and muscle functioning
  • flow of electrolytes in and out of nerve and muscle cells
  • multiple enzyme processes
  • carbohydrate metabolism and
  • the production of hydrochloric acid

It is found in a range of foodstuffs including beef, brewer's yeast, legumes (beans, lentils), milk, nuts, oats, oranges, pork, rice, seeds, wheat, whole grain cereals, and yeast.
