Mitochondria

Mitochondria are part of every cell in the body that contains genetic material.

Mitochondria are responsible for processing oxygen and converting substances from foods into energy for essential cell functions.

Some people believe that mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in some forms of autism spectrum disorders.
