Aripiprazole and Autism

Aripiprazole is a type of atypical antipsychotic medication sold under the brand names Abilify and Aripiprex.

It works by changing the activity of dopamine and other neurotransmitters in the brain and is used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression.

It is sometimes used to treat problem behaviours in people on the autism spectrum, including hyperactivity, aggression, and restricted, repetitive patterns of behaviour, interests, or activities.
