Remedial Exercise

Remedial exercise means any form of physical exercise designed to improve someone's health.

Residential care refers to the care and support provided to individuals in a residential setting rather than in their own home or within the community.

Respite Care

Respite care is another term for short breaks, which consists of regular, short breaks during which individuals with autism spend some time away from their immediate family.

Response Interruption and Redirection

Response interruption and redirection is the introduction of a prompt, comment, or other distractor when an interfering behaviour is occurring.

Responsive Interaction

Responsive interaction is a parent-mediated programme which focuses on helping parents to interact more responsively to their children.

Responsive Teaching

Responsive teaching is a comprehensive parent-mediated intervention for children from birth to 6 years of age who have, or are at-risk for, child development and social emotional problems.

REST

REST is an acronym for restricted environment stimulation therapy, an intervention based around sensory deprivation i.e. minimizing sensory inputs such as sound, lights and smells.

Rhythmic Entrainment Intervention

The rhythmic entrainment intervention uses recorded hand drumming rhythms to stimulate the central nervous system and improve brain function

Ridaura

Ridaura is a brand name for auranofin, a form of gold salts used to treat inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

Riding the Rapids: Living with Autism or Disability

Riding the Rapids is a parent training programme for parents of pre- and primary-school aged children with autism or intellectual and complex disabilities.

Rilutek

Rilutek is a brand name for riluzole, a drug used for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

RIRD

Risperidone

Risperidone is a type of drug called an atypical antipsychotic. It is sold under a variety of brand names including Belivon, Rispen and Risperdal.

Rivastigmine

Rivastigmine is a drug usually used to treat Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

Robota

Robota is the name of a series of doll-shaped mini-humanoid robots.

Robots

A robot is a mechanical device that sometimes resembles a human and is capable of performing a variety of often complex human tasks on command or by being programmed in advance.

Rolfing

Rolfing is a type of manipulation which is designed to align parts of the human body with each other.

rTMS

rTMS is an acronmym for repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, a procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain.

Rubifen

Rubifen is a brand name for methylphenidate, a type of stimulant medication, used to treat inattention and hyperactivity.
